Mesut Ozil is willing to reunite with Jose Mourinho at Manchester United

Arsenal midfielder Ozil is being linked with both Manchester United and Barcelona with his contract at the Emirates expiring at the end of the season.

Atsi Sport understands the Germany international is being lined up as a replacement for Henrikh Mkhitaryan by United gaffer Jose Mourinho.

But, with Barcelona struggling to wear Liverpool down over Philippe Coutinho, Ozil has also emerged as a target.

And Spanish newspaper - Mundo Deportivo, say the Arsenal playmaker has contacted Barcelona to know if they will try and sign him before committing to United.

The Red Devils appear favourites for his signature.

Jose Mourinho managed the player while at Real Madrid, with the duo striking up a close relationship.

Together, they helped Los Blancos end Barcelona’s La Liga stranglehold and also reach three consecutive Champions League semi finals.

Yet Ozil, Mundo Deportivo say, could end up joining Barcelona.

He has not ruled out leaving Arsenal in January should a suitable offer come along.

But the former Schalke star wants to know if Barcelona are really serious about bringing him to the Nou Camp.

He has given them a two-week deadline but, should Barcelona rule out a move, then Ozil will be more than happy to reunite with Mourinho at United.

However, Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger yesterday revealed the player could yet stay at the Emirates with the club making a last-gasp attempt to keep him.

“Negotiations are always going on with everybody,” he said ahead of the Gunners’ clash with West Ham tonight (8pm).

“Our door is always open. For the rest, I can not tell you much more.”

Ozil has been at Arsenal since signing from Real Madrid in 2013.

In that time, the 2014 World Cup winner has helped the north London side win three FA Cup titles.
