EPL Matches Results: Arsenal lose to Watford 2-1 While Chelsea vs Liverpool ended 1-1, Other results

Arsenal failed to comeback from two early Watford goals as they suffered a 2-1 defeat on the match day.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has doubted the concentration levels of his players after their 2-1 defeat to Watford on Tuesday, although he insisted they did not deserve to lose the match.

The Gunners' Premier League title chances were dealt a significant blow against the Hornets at the Emirates Stadium, as they failed to recover from an early two-goal deficit.

Wenger, who was in the stands due to his ongoing touchline ban, dismissed suggestions his team aren't up for the fight but speculated his players were lacking the appropriate focus.

"I don't think we have a power problem," Wenger said, per Oliver Todd of MailOnline. "But we were not mentally ready to deal with the physical duels."

The Gunners responded in the second period, with Alex Iwobi halving the deficit and Lucas Perez rattling the bar. But a cacophony of boos greeted the final whistle, as Arsenal slumped down into third place in the table, nine points behind leaders Chelsea.

CHELSEA 1-1 LIVERPOOL

Chelsea had to settle for a draw against a much-improved Liverpool at Anfield after Diego Costa's late penalty was saved by Simon Mignolet - but still extended their lead at top of the Premier League to nine points.Liverpool keeper Mignolet made amends for his first-half embarrassment when he had been caught off guard by David Luiz's superb free-kick from 25 yards.

Georginio Wijnaldum's close-range header 11 minutes after the break gave Liverpool a draw they fully deserved, ending a run of three successive home losses, two of which knocked them out of the EFL Cup and the FA Cup.

However, it could have been much better for Chelsea and worse for Liverpool when Costa went to ground under challenge from Joel Matip 14 minutes from the end. Referee Mark Clattenburg pointed to the spot but Mignolet dived low to his right to save the Spain striker's spot-kick.

Roberto Firmino wasted Liverpool's two best chances, shooting high over an open goal and heading straight at Thibaut Courtois in the closing seconds.
