AFCON 2017 Quarter final Results: Burkina Fasso and Cameroon, Ghana and Egypt reach Semi final

AFCON 2017 Quarter final Results: Burkina Fasso and Cameroon, Ghana and Egypt reach Semi final

BURKINA FASSO VS TUNISIA

Burkina Faso netted twice in the final 10 minutes to beat Tunisia 2-0 and seal their spot in the semi-finals of the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations on Saturday in Gabon.

Aristide Bance was the difference-maker, as he netted from a free-kick five minutes after coming on before Prejuce Nakoulma sealed the victory six minutes from time.

In Saturday's other quarter-final, in-form Senegal were shocked in a penalty shootout by Cameroon, as Liverpool's Sadio Mane missed the crucial spot-kick after a 0-0 result.

CAMEROON VS SENEGAL

Cameroon knocked the favourites Senegal out of the Africa Cup of Nations with a penalty shootout victory to book their place in the semi-finals.

After a goalless 120 minutes at the Stade de Franceville, Sadio Mané proved the fall guy and the Cameroon goalkeeper Joseph Ondoa the hero as he saved the Liverpool winger’s spot-kick.

In scenes reminiscent of Cameroon’s 2002 final victory in this tournament over the same opponents, Vincent Aboubakar then made no mistake with his penalty to seal the deal 5-4.

Senegal made the running from the outset but exited with nothing to show, while the four-times champions Cameroon go on to face Ghana next in the semi finals.

GHANA VS CONGO DRC

Both Jordan and Andre Ayew found the net as Ghana secured their place in the last four of the Africa Cup of Nations.

Jordan's opener was cancelled out by former Tottenham trainee Paul-Jose M'Poku, before Andre slotted home from the penalty spot in the closing stages.
After a cagey first period, it took a piece of individual brilliance from Jordan Ayew to spring the game into life.

A perfect touch took him away from the challenge of the defender to allow him the space to curl a succulent effort into the top corner from 18 yards.
But he was soon outdone. M'Poku let rip from 30 yards just five minutes later and spectacularly levelled the game.

DR Congo should have had another boost too, as Leicester's Daniel Amartey somehow avoided a red card for a shocking tackle from behind.

It proved to be a let off for Ghana.

They went straight down the other end after the handbags were put away, with Christian Atsu tripped in the box. Andre Ayew stepped up and secured the victory with a coolly taken effort.

Ghana will now face off against Cameroon for a place in the final.

EGYPT VS MOROCCO

Egypt beat Morocco to end Renard dream, make semi-finals.
Mahmoud Kahraba scrambled in the winner in the 88th minute as Egypt beat Herve Renard’s Morocco 1-0 on Sunday to reach the semi-finals of the Africa Cup of Nations.
A tense last-eight tie in Port-Gentil seemed destined for extra time until Kahraba, on as a substitute, poked the ball over the line after the Moroccan defence had failed to cut out a corner.
