Harry Kane fires Tottenham ahead in their FA Cup third-round tie against Portsmouth

Harry Kane sent Tottenham into the FA Cup fourth round with his 265th goal for the club enough to see off League One Portsmouth.

Kane moved one behind Spurs' all-time top scorer Jimmy Greaves after bending a wonderful effort into the corner from the edge of the box at the start of the second half.

Tottenham struggled throughout to break down the managerless visitors, who had sacked boss Danny Cowley on Monday following nine winless league games, with a much-changed team from their 4-0 victory at Crystal Palace.

Both Kane and Heung-Min Son kept their places though as Spurs laboured to their 1-0 win, capping a positive week for Antonio Conte ahead of the north London derby with Arsenal next Sunday, live on Sky Sports.

Middlesbrough 0-5 Brighton

Alexis Mac Allister comes off the bench to score twice and help Brighton to a 5-1 win at Championship Middlesbrough in the FA Cup third round. Adam Lallana, Pascal Gross and Deniz Undav also on target for victorious Seagulls.

World Cup winner Alexis Mac Allister scored his first goals since his return as Brighton thrashed second-tier Middlesbrough 5-1 to reach the FA Cup fourth round.

The Argentina international, a half-time replacement for Adam Lallana at the Riverside Stadium, produced deft 58th-minute and 80th-minute finishes to cement a comfortable 5-1 victory for the Premier League side.

First-half goals from Pascal Gross and Lallana either side of Chuba Akpom’s equaliser – his 14th of the season – had set the visitors on their way.

Substitute Deniz Undav added a late fifth on a day when Michael Carrick’s promotion hopefuls were given a taste of what awaits them should they make it out of the second tier this season.

Mac Allister had to make do with a seat on the bench once again as Brighton boss Roberto De Zerbi fielded a strong line-up featuring seven of the men who started Tuesday’s 4-1 Premier League win at struggling Everton.

Bournemouth 2-4 Burnley.

Manuel Benson and Anass Zaroury scored twice each as Championship leaders Burnley produced an upset at Premier League Bournemouth. Ryan Christie and Dominic Solanke scored for the Cherries but couldn't prevent Burnley advancing to the FA Cup fourth round.

Championship leaders Burnley underlined their promotion credentials with a brilliant 4-2 victory at Premier League Bournemouth in the FA Cup third round on Saturday.

Manuel Benson gave Burnley an early lead before Ryan Christie quickly levelled for the hosts, but Anass Zaroury struck twice in four minutes just before the break to give the visitors a 3-1 half-time advantage.

Bournemouth threatened a comeback as Dominic Solanke reduced the deficit three minutes after the break, but Benson grabbed his second just before the hour mark to establish a lead that Burnley never looked like giving up.

Marcos Senesi gifted the Clarets a sixth-minute lead when his loose pass was cut out by Johann Berg Gudmundsson, who thread Benson in behind.

The right-sided winger set himself before emphatically beating Mark Travers for his eighth goal of the season.

However, the Cherries were level after 12 minutes thanks to another blunder.

Burnley midfielder Josh Cullen sliced a first-time pass on the edge of his own area to give Christie an open goal. And the Scotland international made no mistake to give Bournemouth their first goal in 393 minutes, with their last strike coming in a 3-0 victory over Everton before the World Cup.

Left winger Zaroury then showed his tricky nature with a wonderful cut in and shot which offered a warning to his threat.

The Cherries failed to heed that warning in the 39th minute as a tardy Lewis Cook was hounded off the ball by Zaroury and Ashley Barnes before Josh Brownhill gave the Moroccan a tap-in.

If that was easy, Zaroury's second goal four minutes later was a work of beauty. He skipped in off his touchline, played a one-two with Brownhill, then nutmegged Jack Stephens and Phillip Billing before curling into the bottom corner.

Christie almost pulled one back for Bournemouth in first-half stoppage time but was denied brilliantly by Bailey Peacock-Farrell.

Cherries boss O'Neill responded by making a triple substitute at the break, with captain Lloyd Kelly, Kieffer Moore and Jack Stacey brought on.

They had the desired impact as the rethink saw Solanke threaded through by Christie three minutes into the second half.

The striker's first effort was blocked by Peacock-Farrell but he made no mistake with his rebounded header to end a five-match barren run.

Burnley reasserted their two-goal advantage less than 10 minutes later. Zaroury had been denied his hat-trick by Travers but Benson grabbed his double after another defensive error.

This time Christie's slack header offered up possession to Barnes, with Benson on the end of a perfect threaded pass to thump in his second of the afternoon.

It was the 12th goal Bournemouth had conceded in their last five outings.

The helter-skelter nature of the match continued when Christie had a header cleared off the line before Kelly's looping follow-up struck both the bar and post.
