English FA Cup: Manchester United knocked out by Chelsea as Kante's goal send Conte's men to Wembley

Chelsea knocked out FA Cup holders Manchester United at Stamford Bridge as N'Golo Kante's goal secured a 1-0 win to send Antonio Conte's Blues into a Wembley semi-final.

Jose Mourinho was dealt an early setback as referee Michael Oliver sent off Ander Herrera for two bookable offences, and the Portuguese manager clashed with Conte on the touchline shortly afterwards.

United held out until half-time as David De Gea made two superb saves, but Kante beat the Spanish goalkeeper from range to see Chelsea through to the last four of the competition with Tottenham, Arsenal and Manchester City.

TALKING POINT

Did Ander Herrera deserve to be sent off? He can have few arguments with his first booking for barging into Eden Hazard and obstructing him. His second yellow was for clipping the Belgian playmaker was more debatable, although United's players had been warned by referee Michael Oliver for their over enthusiastic challenges. The Spaniard often plays on the edge but his temperament proved to be his downfall.

MAN OF THE MATCH

N’Golo Kante (Chelsea): The Frenchman scored a wonderful goal in the Premier League win over United in October and he added another in this game, beating David de Gea from long range. His work rate, passing and trickery left Paul Pogba and United’s midfield in his wake.
