West Ham were humbled 5-1 by Arsenal at London Stadium on Saturday. Mesut Ozil gave Arsenal the lead from six yards out after being set up by team-mate Alexis Sanchez

Alexis Sanchez scored a hat-trick to condemn Slaven Bilic's side to a major defeat. Bilic had to apologised for his side's 'humiliation' which leaves them in 17th position. The Hammers boss admitted his side now face a relegation scrap

Arsenal leapfrogged Liverpool to move second in the Premier League and keep up the pressure on leaders Chelsea with a hard-fought win over West Ham.

The German star provided a simple finish from six yards out after he was unselfishly played in by his Chilean team-mate Alexis Sanchez.

The Chilean then doubled the Gunners' lead in the 72nd minute with a fine individual goal before adding the gloss to the scoreline with a strike into the bottom corner from the edge of the area.

Sanchez scored his second and Arsenal's third with 10 minutes left, firing into the bottom corner.

Andy Carroll nodded in a consolation goal from close range after Dimitri Payet's free-kick struck the bar.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain restored Arsenal's three-goal advantage moments later from outside the box

Arsenal turn up the heat and the goals to move into second place in the table.

As feared at half-time from a West Ham perspective, the Hammers never did close those gaps at the back and Alexis Sanchez was only too happy to fill his boots with a 15-minute treble.

That thumping win for Arsenal takes West Ham down the table and are one place and just one point above the bottom three.
