Barcelona win La Liga title after 3-0 vs Granada, making Real 2-0 over Deportivo academic

Barcelona, eventually, clinched their 24th La Liga title despite a stutter down the home straight which gave Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid hope.

A Luis Suarez hat trick dispatched an already safe Granada to get the party started and make Real Madrid 2-0 triumph over Deportivo La Coruna academic.

Suarez, incidentally, reached 40 goals to claim the Pichichi award, meaning Ronaldo’s two goals at the Riazor - which lifted him to 35 goals for the season - was not enough.

Barça now have a Copa del Rey final to focus on; Luis Enrique’s side battle Sevilla at the Calderon next weekend.
While Zinedine Zidane must focus on the Champions League final against Atletico a week later.

Barcelona deserve their La Liga title, but here is why Zinedine Zidane’s rise is likely to be the story of next season.

Simeone will be delighted that both his strikers are hitting good form ahead of their derby showdown at the San Siro for the Champions League.

Torres and Griezmann have struck up a good relationship this season and with the compact midfield behind them, they’ve been highly productive.

Torres has been rejuvenated this season, especially in 2016; El Niño is making a late charge to make the Spain squad for Euro 2016.

Cristiano Ronaldo scores over 50 goals in Real Madrid season for SIXTH campaign in succession.

The Portuguese international has become the first player in the history of world football to score over half a century of goals at club level in six successive years.

Ronaldo’s second goal in the final day win over Deportivo La Coruna took him to a staggering 51 goals, for the campaign.

The total could yet increase further, with Real Madrid featuring in the Champions League final against city rivals Atletico next month.

Ronaldo has so far scored 35 La Liga goals and a further 16 in Europe.

Despite the goals, the three-time Ballon d’Or has only won La Liga once and the Copa del Rey twice since signing for Los Blancos in 2009.

He does however have the chance to become European champion for the second time in the San Siro clash on May 28.

Ronaldo’s heroics were not enough to Real, who lost out on the chance to win La Liga on the final day of the season.

The win at Deportivo was in vain as Barcelona ran out victorious at Granada, which confirmed their position as league champions yet again.
