Nigeria survived a late scare to beat Libya 3-2 in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualification Group E match on Tuesday in Sfax, Tunisia.

The Super Eagles got off to the best possible start as they took an early goal through their in-form marksman Odion Ighalo 13 minutes into the game.

Ahmed Musa doubled Nigeria’s lead following an impressive counter-attack in the 17th minute.
However, the hosts managed to pull one back through Mohamed Zubya before Ahmad Benali equalised for the Libyans in the 74th minute.

Ighalo bagged a second of the night after controlling the ball brilliantly and firing past Libyan goalkeeper Ahmed Azzaga to make it 3-2.

The victory took the Eagles to the top of the group standings with nine points.

Ighalo continues to repay Rohr’s faith

It appeared a case of too early as the Super Eagles scored two goals in the 14th and 17th minutes against their Libyan host.

Odion Ighalo, who continued his good form from the first leg where he bagged a hat-trick, scored the first while Ahmed Musa showed good feet and balance to get the second goal.

The Libyans showed they are a good side, getting one back in the 35th minute before equalising in the second half.

A second goal by Ighalo in the 81st minute ensured victory for the eagles who now lead Group E of the Africa Nations Cup qualifier with nine points.

One easy take from the match is that Gernot Rohr has to work on making quick substitutions to help his side when they look in trouble.

Here are ratings of how the Nigerian players fared against their Libyan opponents.

Seychelles 0-0 South Africa: Bafana Bafana squander Afcon qualification chances

Stuart Baxter's men remain top of Group E log despite the draw, but they could be dethroned going into the final two matches

South Africa squandered their biggest chance of qualifying for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations finals by playing to a goalless draw with Seychelles on Tuesday.

Stuart Baxter made one from the team that hammered Seychelles 6-0 in the first leg, with Dino Ndlovu taking Aubrey Modiba's place in the starting line-up.
