The champions responded following Claudio Ranieri's sacking to beat a poor Reds side at the King Power Stadium
Jamie Vardy scored twice as Leicester City climbed out of the relegation zone.
Leicester striker Vardy struck in each half as the fallen champions finally decided to turn up with a much-needed performance just four days after Claudio Ranieri had been sacked.
Danny Drinkwater also scored a spectacular first half effort as Leicester overwhelmed Liverpool as the King Power Stadium came alive again.
Leicester fans chanted Ranieri’s name, held banners and even organised a march through the city centre while the players forgot all about him to produce a victory reminiscent of last season’s title success.
Philippe Coutinho grabbed a late consolation for Liverpool but it was Leicester’s night with only their second win of 2017.
Leicester went off at half time to a standing ovation after a brilliant, rip roaring 45 minutes which saw Jamie Vardy and Danny Drinkwater put them 2-0 up with a performance reminiscent of last season. By the time Vardy made it three, the stadium had virtually forgotten Ranieri. Claudio who?
So, should we celebrate the fact they can turn it on and off like a tap? Or perhaps think the players should hang their heads in shame for playing when it suits them and getting Claudio Ranieri the sack?
As good as they were, Leicester’s victory felt wrong, nasty and cheap. It was always going to be a game that Leicester couldn’t win because if they lost it was no improvement and if they won we’d castigate them for letting down Ranieri.
