SPURS END CITY'S PERFECT START AFTER 2-0 VICTORY

PEP GUARDIOLA suffered his first Premier League defeat after Aleksandar Kolarov's own goal and Dele Alli's strike gave Tottenham a deserved win at White Hart Lane.

Dele Alli scores Tottenham's second goal

Spurs began well and took the lead with under 10 minutes gone when Kolarov swung a leg at Danny Rose’s cross and inadvertently put the ball into the back of his own net.

Tottenham were dominating and Christian Eriksen almost doubled the home side’s lead from a free-kick which crept just wide of the post.

But Mauricio Pochettino’s side went two ahead soon after when Son Heung-min’s delightful ball found Alli, and he swept the ball home under Claudio Bravo.

After the break Victor Wanyama almost made it three with a 20-yard strike which forced Bravo into a fine save.

City were looking ragged, but they almost found a way back into the match when Fernandinho picked out Sergio Aguero, whose shot hit Hugo Lloris and flew into the crossbar.

Tottenham had the chance to finish the game when Fernandinho fouled Alli in the box, but Erik Lamela’s spot kick was saved by Bravo to give City hope of salvaging something from the game.

Kelechi Iheanacho then had a real chance to pull one back for City, but Hugo Lloris was out quickly to make the save.

David Silva then picked out Aguero who shot from distance, but Lloris was able to tip the ball over the bar.

And Tottenham were able to hold out for the win to move a point behind City at the top of the Premier League table.

Brilliant by Spurs. Absolutely superb. That's the kind of performance and victory that can help decide league titles. WOH IT'S TOO EARLY TO BE DOING THAT but Spurs looked brilliant from start to finish. One point separates these two clubs at the top of the table now. City need to work out how to beat the big teams now.
