It's party time in Lisbon! Portuguese fans take to the streets to light flares, wave flags and honk their car horns to celebrate the nation's Euro 2016 win over France as Ronaldo lifts the trophy despite going off injured early.
Tens of thousands of jubilant fans lit flares, honked their car horns and waved flags and scarves to celebrate their country's first ever victory in a major football tournament.
The underdog national team triumphed in the face of adversity as they beat hosts France 1-0 after extra-time despite losing their captain and talisman Cristiano Ronaldo to injury just 25 minutes into the Euro 2016 final.
The three-time world player of the year was stretchered off in tears after clashing knees with West Ham and France midfielder Dimitri Payet but his agony later turned to ecstasy as a resilient Portugal ground out a win against all odds.
France had been heavy favourites going into the final but in a game unlikely to be remembered for anything other than the result the home nation could not capitalise on Ronaldo's early exit.
Substitute Andre-Pierre Gignac almost won it for the French at the end of normal time, when he turned and hit the inside of the post, but despite having numerous chances throughout the 120 minutes the hosts could not find a way through at the Stade de France in Paris.
In Ronaldo's absence it was left to former Swansea City striker Éder to take on the mantle of his country's hero. The 28-year-old produced a fine solo effort against the run of play, firing in a low, 25-yard drive past keeper Hugo Lloris with just over 10 minutes left in extra-time.
“I am very happy, of course. First of all I’d like to thank God for being with us, my wife, my mother, my grandson. My father wherever he is, he’s probably having a few beers.

Pepe hailed Cristiano Ronaldo's inspiration as Portugal stunned home nation France with a 1-0 victory in extra time at the Stade de France, despite losing their talismanic player after just 25 minutes.
Ronaldo, who was pictured hugging his former mentor Sir Alex Ferguson after the game, was carried off on a stretcher after never recovering from an early clash with Dmitri Payet which twisted his knee – and Portugal's hope appeared to go with him.
But an organised rear-guard action led by the Real Madrid defender, with Ronaldo urging his team on from the bench and delivering a passionate extra-time team talk, meant that they stayed in the game, with Eder coming off the bench to score with just 11 minutes of extra time remaining.
And Pepe said that Ronaldo's absence had inspired the team to victory 'When Cristiano said he couldn't go on, I tried to tell my team-mates that we had to win it for him, that we were going to fight for him,' said Pepe.
'It was tough because we lost our main man and we had all our hopes in him. He's a player who can score at any minute. We know his abilities. We poured our blood sweat and tear on to the pitch. We left if all on the pitch for our nation.
