EPL: Mancity thump Chelsea 0-3; Aguero's hat trick

Aguero shifted the ball on to his right foot before unleashing a powerfully struck effort to break the deadlock at Stamford Bridge

Chelsea's bad season continued with Man City's 3-0 thumping at Stamford Bridge in week 34 of the English Premier League.

Aguero's hat trick ensured that Chelsea was completely annihilated.

-Sergio Aguero opened the scoring for Manchester City in the 33rd minute applying a superb finish to a swift counter
-Aguero doubled the advantage with another brilliant City goal on the break after great work by Kevin De Bruyne
-The Argentinian striker sealed his hat-trick from the penalty spot after Thibaut Courtois had been sent off.

It was a match with great expection on both sides;
On the part of Chelsea a win would have ensured a closer inches towards the Europa League zones while for Man City a stronger grip on top four on the league table.

On the night, it was Man City that took their chances and completely destroyed the Bridge.

Chelsea began the match like a house on fire, creating a couple of chances which they never utilized. The only chance that was converted was ruled out for an off side. Diego Costa thought he had given Chelsea a ninth-minute lead after Baba Rahman dispossessed Jesus Navas, but the effort was disallowed for offside

It was an encounter in which Thibaut Courtois, who was returning for the first time after a long injury spell, saw red after upending Aguero.

Aguero became the 3rd EPL player to record a hat trick in Stamford Bridge after the likes of Kanu Nwankwo and Van Persy.

Food for thought;

Chelsea half-expected City’s creator-in-chief to go it alone. Instead, he squared to Aguero who steadied himself before coolly slotting past Courtois. In short: pure quality. De Bruyne’s vision, Aguero’s finish. Breathtaking.

You have to wonder what Abramovich was thinking. De Bruyne, now a £54million star on his first return to Stamford Bridge since being allowed to leave in 2014, tore his expensively assembled team apart.

How could a footballer this talented have been allowed to leave? It’s a question Abramovich will surely be asking himself.

And how this Chelsea team could do with De Bruyne right now. Still, the Blues could have been on level at half-time had Willian not wasted a free-kick from a good position at the end of the first half.

Similarly, had Loftus-Cheek not mistimed his effort from just six yards out then Chelsea would have been celebrating.
